My year in Grade 5:
My year in great 5 was great, but sadly we will miss our best teacher ever. And happily we will be grown ups, also... Our teacher Mrs. Kasal, won't leave, CAC. YAAAY!!! Mrs. Kasal let us do parties, have free time, and have fun, etc. But then comes the working, also in math, language arts, science, and social studies Mrs. Kasal taught all of us students the best she could do, and it was the best. Mrs. Kasal made me have the best learning growth ever not only me but the whole class Mrs. Kasal always makes me and the other 17 students go home happy, For example on tests, when you get a bad score, we of course have a broken heart, but she raise it back up. Mrs. Kasal does that by saying"you at least know something", she always tells us this quote, everytime we have a test and you didn't get perfect score, all of us get sooooooooo sure about our self's.
Parent Questions, Responses:
What future goals do you have as a student?
One of my future goals as a student is to organize my desk, papers, etc. Because when we will be in Middle School, we will have to organize a lot during the year this is important because whenever you lose your things you will get in big trouble.
How can we help you at home?
Dear Mom and Dad, you can help me at home by making math problems for me to practice more, and get better scores on tests you can do word problems, drawing problem, and explanation! you can also help me at home by staying next to me when I read so you can tell me the meaning and if you don't know what the word mean I can search it up with you, so next time you can answer me!!!
If you could do the work over again how would you change?
If I can do the work over again That means it's getting to easy, so I need more diffuclt math problems, reading problems for example you can do a little F and P testing.
You can also give me problems that is related to science and I can search it up read it all, close the computer, then answer the question!
Reading:
I set up reading goals from the beginning of the year, one goal is to stop and jot, slowly slowly jotting on every page I reached my goal and I kept on jotting and jotting, for my sake of good, when I was a little kid, I thought It wouldn't effect my life. But as I grew slowly slowly I learned that it doesn't only effect 1 or 2 things but it effects grammer which is speaking, having a lot of information which helps me have a better life in university, and an easy life not having troubles, etc...
Reading helps me also grow as a learner which can make my life happier learning new things you don't know. By that you get more curios, and start reading more, which can help your growth and also it is a useful thing in life if you don't read you won't have good grammar and also people will laugh at you and also it will make your life sooooooo hard in university.
And there are diffrent levels and your suppose to be on level T. Because when you leave Elementary School you will go to Middle School you will need your reading skills because in every subject you will have a class time to read your book, and if you don't have your book you will be in big big trouble, this goes also to be organized with School things.
Writing:
Writing is one of my favorite topic in class, first of all we go work in the lemon lounge we called it like that because the walls are all yellow. But know it's called... the news room, 2 weeks ago we had time to decorate the lemon lounge which now became the news room. We work in the news room a lot when we have work to do like writing news that might happen or have happened few days, or months ago. One example is Kim jung Wun met Donald Trump, that would be old, but if you write about north Korea being friends with south Korea, it wouldn't be new, it would be a new thing for some people, and it would be curios. Let's get back to the topic, soooo ya writing is one of the best thing in life, with one story you can be famous, think of your self as a star, everything would be awesome.
Writing can effect your life in many ways, one is you can be famous, two it inspires you and dont forget do whatever inspire you, don't listen to people, its all about who you are and what you want to do, and you can't force yourself to do something, we don't need money its what your happy about, and always remember feelings come before everything, then the money will come by itself. What comes around goes around
The most tool I learned in writing is debating, and describing or maybe having more evidence. I learned how to debate because first ofcourse Mrs. Kasal helped me, and Mrs. J. And also I got help by my group and all the mini lessons we all do together as a class, we were divided into groups of 3 and 4's. And my groups topic was about that plastic bottles should be banned. We also searched on our topic and stop and jot.
I got so much of information that when we did the debate in the fishbowl my teamates couldn't answer back, because I also thought of answering back, I did this by thinking what they would answer to me. I learned how to describe my story by adding new words. because your never done, you always edit and edit, and you find words you need to add, because writing a story is not easy thats why when a person tells you there is a new story coming soon and everyday you ask yourself when will the story come... 1 week later. When will it come, you go and ask the man is the book... in here,"NO" why? then it keeps on going on... ten weeks later did the book... come "YES"
and ten weeks is a lot thats why you are never ever done writing a story. Editing my story helped me a lot and also what helped me a lot is jotting on my topic, which is plastic bottles should be banned. Helped me get all the information!!!
Math:
Hey whats up we moved to math. So one thing I improved by the beginning of the year is following the RDW process, and following the RDW process, got me to a point of good math grades because I showed my evidence and how I solved it, so I can get a four.
I also got help from my parents, they bought me two math books one bigger than the other, the small math book I got for summer break, and the big one, 2/3 pages a day after school.Plus I had the eureka math book at school so I got better by doing extra homework, also in reading, I read more than 25 minutes a day, which got me a stronger reader. Practice does everything you want to reach to.
Science/Social studies
One goal I set in the beginning of the year was to listen to the instructions, and to pay atenntion to the steps, because In Middle School you will learn history one of my favorite subject, which relates to so many experiments because we will also do science.
As I kept on following the instruction and I got better, and better and I got good grades. I improved by trying and trying.
I set a goal from the beginning of the year in social studies that me and my partner did on how do scientist conduct, me and my partner did observe, this is a really important thing that scientists need to do because they really have to observe so closely bit by bit.
Citizenship/Core Values
The core values of CAC helped me a lot, and helped my friends the core values is the most important thing here at CAC because we use them a lot everywhere and also outside CAC, the core values were made in 2016/17, and from that moment we were all so happy because in 2011/12 there was only being safe, responsible, and respectful but know there are new ones added.
Most challenging:
The most challenging thing at school was in Pre-K, you would go in the class ready to start smiling but then it ends up with a sad face, because we have a test,[hahahhahahahaha] let's continue hardest question ever 1+1=? ummm I think the answer is eleven "I would never think of that answer Jeff but i'm sorry the answer is NO! whyyyyy I've tried my best.
But know were in fifth grade past through all the trouble. And now i'm in fifth grade which we have more experience in all the mathematics, reading/writing skills and all the other subjects.
Most enjoyable:
The most thing I find enjoyable at school are the activities all the teachers prepares for us, and some games shows respect to all the people around you and also they learn life lessons, one example is a game all fifth graders played it's called babumba which shows caring, helping, etc. so in the game babumba it was not only fun, well fun comes before everything as well as showing some core values.
Most proud of:
Throughout all elementary the most thing I was proud of are the map tests reading, language arts and math. I improved by so much on my reading test I got 180 in the beginning of the year which is bad but know I got 206 so I improved by 26 points. And in language usage I got 196 which was a pretty good score but know I got 211 which is meeting the expectations.
And last but not least the most proud of map testing was..... MATH! at the beginning of the year I got 210 which was definitly meeting the expectations and now I got 218 so I improved by... wait why are you people reading Gianluca's year reflection did not clap....... OH!! I appreciate that so much. oh so that means I improved by........8 points which is not bad, but getting 210 in the beginning of the year was so good!!!
Most growth:
The most growth throughout the year was in reading, I improved a lot on my reading skills by practicing and practicing and I got a better stamina.

4 Corner Activity Reflection
-Science has only brought positive benefits to everyone.
-Technology is everywhere in the world
-Boys are better at Science than girls.
-The Internet has made the world smaller
-Animal testing is necessary.
-GMOs are safe.
-Climate change is caused by people.
-Techonogy has negatively affected close family time.
-Students should not be allowed to use personal digital devices at school.
-Should all cars now be electric.
....................................................................................................................................................................................
What we did yesterday in class was that the teacher was asking us questions and we would go to a corner were their were labels: Agree, strongly agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. What really shocked me was that my classmates came up with really good thoughts that I didn't expect, some of my thoughts are that what are GMO'S?
One of my answers were that technology is a negetive affect to family because it disturbs your communication together.

Mechanical and chemical erosion
Mechanical weathering is the process of breaking big rocks into little ones.his process usually happens near the surface of the planet. Temperature also affects the land the cool nights and hot day's cause things to expand and contract.

Chemical Weathering is what happens when rocks are broken down and chemically altered. Chemical weathering is also hydrolysis, oxidation, carbonation, acid rain and acids produced by lichens.

The Wadi Field Trip
Into the wild I jumped ready to start with my bag pack, water bottle, and my snack. Sand sparkling around like glitter filling my heart and out we start the day...
Dr. Bill was teaching all us kids how the water eroded and how acid is powerful as the weathering.
Dr. Bill was teaching all us kids how the water eroded and how acid is powerful as the weathering.
We went hiking up high as some of my friends were scared, but its okay.
Something that really inspired me is looking under rocks to look for snakes and scorpions, another thing inspired me is looking foe fossils with my friends.
All of us kids were happy to look at the view, wadi's and fossils and rocks.
we were geologists not only kids we were studying rocks and erosion.
They made us go anywhere and look around and find some fossils and before that when I finished my snack I had to go behind a rock for privacy.
I felt I was in a camp in the middle of a forest and also it was so cool looking for fossils I made new friends as I was looking for fossils, Vidit, and Shameer.
In the end of me and my new friend's adventure we had a growth mindset we were showing that by finding fossils and we also ate so yummy yummy yummy food.

Reality Experience
I saw many different things like mountains grass land water and also water falls. And what I experienced is that living with nature is not A bad thing and not to have fear because I was sitting on a chair and I was flying in the air and looking at the view in the air.
experiment four: can we control a water stream?
Hypothesis: Yes! we can control water if we build a wall as a path
Materials: Stream Table, Bucket, Ruler, Water, A stand, Sand mixture
Procedure: first we set up the project
second we set up the sand half of the stream table
third we put a bucket on a ruler and the ruler was across the stream table
fourth we poured the water in the bucket that was on top of the ruler and there was a whole that brought down and made a canyon and made a puddle
fifth we water till the water would fall in the bucket that was on the floor
Observation: we made a canyon and made a puddle
we water till the water would fall in the bucket that was on the floor
Conclusion: We failed because we did not use a strong wall to not break as the cubes did

Experiment One: Water Erosion
Question:
What happens to land when water flows over it.
Hypothesis: I think that when the water flows over it makes a deep valley and it also construct a little tower.
Materials: Stream Table, Bucket, Ruler, Water, A stand, Sand mixture
Procedure: first we set up the project
second we set up the sand half of the stream table
third we put a bucket on a ruler and the ruler was across the stream table

APL QUOTE:Don't raise your voice
What I think of not raising our voices when we speak is because when you say it calmly first its respectful and second its more clear to them to make them understand third nothing is rushing you and fourth he will not do it as you speak slowly the more he will get what to do and understand your meaning of doing.
